Auction Sales

Sales of both General Goods and Antiques & Collectables are held every 2nd Saturday and dates of the next two sales are available on the next sales Page

Valuations

We will provide a free (verbal) valuation of items that are brought into the salerooms, by prior appointment.  If you require a written valuation a small charge is made.

We will also provide valuations of both single items or entire house contents in your own home.  A charge is made for this service, however, if the goods are subsequently entered into sale this charge will be waived.

Full written valuations together with digital imaging of individual items can be provided for insurance purposes etc.

Please contact a member of our administration team for more information.

Probate Valuations and sales

Henry Holden & Son provide Probate Valuations and Sales to a number of Solicitor clients.  The highest standards of client confidentiality are observed and the recently bereaved are treated with both discretion and sympathy.

We are able to provide professional references regarding these services.

Sales of both General Goods and Antiques & Collectables are held every 2nd Saturday (see Next sales page).  Or by private arrangement for larger estates.

Reserves may be agreed between auctioneer and instructing client on most goods that are entered into sales at no cost, however, where a high reserve, not agreed by the auctioneer, is placed a charge for a "no sale" may be levied.

A copy of our terms and conditions of business is available both on this site (see Terms of business Page) and in the salerooms.  We would advise all instructing clients to read these.  Please feel free to ask a member of staff if you any questions regarding commission, buyers premium, or any aspect of the auction sale procedure you are unsure about.

Full house clearances can be undertaken and the services of a local or national carrier can be arranged on your behalf to transport items to or from the salerooms.

Sales of distress and execution

Henry Holden & Son themselves do not act as bailiffs or enforcement agents.  They do, however, provide the highest standards of Auctioneering and Valuation services to private bailiff companies both national and local, County Court bailiffs, Sheriffs Officers, the Inland Revenue, Liquidators and Receivers, Insolvency Practitioners, the Insurance Industry and private landlords.

A thorough knowledge of distress and execution, both common law and statute law is maintained by key members of the company.  All services that are provided will be carried out in accordance with legislation and all charges will be in accordance with the current fee scales as set out by the government department responsible.

The National Standards for Enforcement Agents, introduced by the Department for Constitutional Affairs (Lord Chancellors Department)  will be observed by all of our staff when carrying out these duties on behalf of Enforcement Agents.
